9 Do not twist, turn inside out, or bend the
timing belt beyond the maximum limit of
25 mm (1.0 in) e e , otherwise it may be
damaged.
9 Do not get oil or grease on the timing
belt.
9 Do not turn the sprockets counterclock-
wise, otherwise the valve system may be
damaged.
5. Install the retaining plate then tighten the
nut temporary tighten.
6. Take up the timing belt slack by turning
the drive sprocket clockwise at least two
full turns.
7. Turn the drive sprocket two turns, and
then check that the alignment marks are
aligned.

8. Tighten the driven sprocket bolt 6 to the
specified torque.

9. Tighten the drive sprocket nut 7 to the
specified torque.
NOTE:
Use a deep socket 8 (36 mm) for this proce-
dure.
10. Install the breather hose.

Flywheel holder:

Driven sprocket bolt 6:
13 N·m (1.3 kgf·m, 9.6 ft·lb)
Shaft holder 9:
90890-06069
Drive sprocket nut 7:
54 N·m (5.4 kgf·m, 39 ft·lb)
