CHECKING AND ADJUSTMENT PRIOR TO MEASUREMENT
I n order to operate the oscilloscope at its optimum performance level, c a r r y out
the
following checks and adjustment before doing your measurements. T h e
instructions w h i c h follow concerning basic operation techniques and applications
assume that the checks and adjustment described here have been completed.
1.

N e x t , after c h e c k i n g the power source voltage r a t i n g s , s w i t c h the P O W E R
control on. T h e pilot lamp w i l l light up, and a trace line w i l l appear i n 10 to 15
seconds.
Check to see that rotating the I N T E N S I T Y control to the r i g h t
increases trace brightness, and rotating i t to the left decreases brightness.
T h e n rotate the I N T E N S I T Y control a l l w a y to left and e x t i n g u i s h the trace
line to being preheating. F o r the most accurate measurement results, i t i s
necessary to preheat the oscilloscope for about 30 m i n u t e s . H o w e v e r , i f you
intend only to display w a v e f o r m s , preheating is not necessary.
2.
After preheating, adjust the I N T E N S I T Y control so that the trace line is easy
to see, a n d adjust the F O C U S control to attain the clearest display image
possible. T h e n use the T R A C E R O T A control to b r i n g the trace line parallel
w i t h the horizontal graduation lines.
