Troubleshooting Guide (Hot Case)
Problem
Product not holding
temperature.
No soup/hot well or
overhead heat.
No griddle heat.
Main Power switch
on but case is
inoperative.
Fluorescent Lights do
not come on.

Possible Cause
Ambient conditions may
be affecting the case
operation.
Unit not preheated.
Heat settings too low
Low voltage.
Product held too long
Product not placed
correctly in case.
Product not hot when
placed in case.
Faulty heater.
Faulty control.
Losse wiring on heater.
Temperature setting "Off". Increase shelf heat setting.
Faulty griddle heater.
Faulty control.
Loose wiring on heater.
Temperature setting "Off". Increase griddle heat setting.
Open Circuit.
Ballast/light socket wiring. Check electrical connections. See Electrical Section and
Ballast needs to be
replaced.
Lamp socket needs to be
replaced.

Possible Solution
Check case position in store. Is the case located near an
open door, window, electric fan or air conditioning vent that
may cause air currents? Case must be located minimum
15 Ft away from doors or windows. Cases are designed to
operate at 55% Relative humidity and a temperature of 75°F.
Preheat case before loading product.
Adjust shelf/griddle control setting.
Using volt meter make sure line voltage matches serial plate
voltage.
Hold product for recommended time.
Place product in case per recommendations.
Place prepackaged hot food in case.
Check and call Hatco to replace if necessary.
Check and call Hatco to replace if necessary.
Check wiring/electrical connections.
Check and call Hatco to replace if necessary.
Check and call Hatco to replace if necessary.
Check wiring/electrical connections.
Check to see that cord is plugged in if plug is provided.
Check wiring/electrical connections for hard wired cases.
Check line voltage.
Check power switch and replace if defective.
check wiring diagram.
Case should be serviced by a qualified service technician.
