Glowing embers and glass pebbles are included with your fireplace.
Install these items while glass doors are open and/or removed.
1. Place glass pebbles in a single layer evenly on the pebble pan.
Make certain that the correct media is used. If crushed glass or
other media is used, replaced it with the proper media listed on the
price list. Make certain the media is placed precisely as indicated
in this instruction manual (single layer of pebbles in straight rows)
and all glass remains on the pebble tray with no glass at all on
the burner.
2. Pull glowing ember material apart into pieces no larger than a
dime size. The ember material must be pulled into "dime size
pieces" and spread evenly along the length of the burner. Ember
material should not be "clumped" particularly near the pilot ports.
The ember pack contains more ember material than is needed to
create a glowing ember bed. Save the remaining embers to refresh
the ember bed during annual maintenance.
Reinstall the included barrier (J7457)
WARNING: Reinstall any barrier removed before
operating the fireplace. The barrier is designed to
reduce the risk of burns from hot glass. Do not operate
the fireplace without the barrier installed.

NOTE: All models must have a barrier installed prior to operation.
1. Hold the barrier in front of the glass door and slide it up into the
channel underneath the upper front face (see Figure 37).
2. Slide the barrier bottom down into the slots below the glass door,
securing it in place (see Figure 37).
UPGRADING DRL4543 TO SEE-THRU APPLICATION
Removing Rear Panel
1. In the rear of the fireplace, locate screws at top of rear panel and
remove as shown in Figure 38. Discard screws and rear panel.
2. Unscrew mount bracket from top face as shown in Figure 39,
Page 29. Discard mounting bracket and replace screws.
