Immobilizer System (HISS)

HISS is the abbreviation of Honda
Ignition Security System.
The immobilizer system (HISS) protects
your motorcycle from theft. A properly-
coded key must be used in the ignition
switch to start the engine or release the
steering lock. If an improperly-coded key
(or other device) is used, the engine's
starting circuit is disabled and the steering
lock cannot be released.

Instruments & Controls
When the ignition switch is turned ON and
the engine stop switch is at RUN, the
immobilizer system (HISS) indicator
lights for a few seconds, then go off. If
the indicator remains on, it means the
system does not recognize the coding of
the key. Turn the ignition switch to OFF,
remove the key, reinsert and turn the
switch ON again.
The immobilizer system keeps the
immobilizer system (HISS) indicator
blinking at 2 second intervals for 24 hours
when the ignition switch is OFF. This
blinking function can be turned on or off.
