WRITE SPEED x1? Writes data in real time (e.g., extracting and copying a 2 minute CD track takes
approximately 2 minutes).
§
WRITE SPEED x2? Writes data twice as fast as real time (e.g., extracting and copying a 2 minute CD
track takes approximately 1 minute).
§
WRITE SPEED x4? Writes data four times as fast as real time (e.g., extracting and copying a 2
minute CD track takes approximately 30 seconds).
§
WRITE SPEED x8? Writes data eight times as fast as real time (e.g., extracting and copying a 2
minute CD track takes approximately 15 seconds).

3.4 HOW TO EXTRACT AND COPY TRACKS

§
Insert the CD with tracks to be extracted into the source CD drive. If you are extracting to CD, insert
the blank, recordable CD(s) into the CD Recording drive(s).

If the Track Extraction menu is not the current menu, press Menu/Edit until the display shows TRK
EXT MENU?, then press OK/Enter.
§
Set up the desired extraction parameters, as detailed above in section 3.3..
§
Press Cancel/Display until the display shows TRK EXTRACTION?
§
Press OK/Enter. The display shows DISC ANALYZE?
§
Press OK/Enter.
§
StartREC 400 now analyzes the source CD. This may take a few seconds.
§
The Select Track display appears. The top line shows the track number, total track time, and
cumulative time of all selected tracks (this initially reads T00:00).
CAUTION: M ake sure the cumulative time does not exceed the target media's capacity.
§
Use the Down/Up buttons to scroll through the CD tracks. To select a track for extraction, press
OK/Enter. A mark appears between the track number and track time. You can select as many tracks as
desired. To de-select a previously-selected track, scroll with the Down/Up buttons to the track to be
de-selected, and press the OK/Enter button.
§
After selecting all desired tracks for extraction, press the Rec button.
§
The display shows the copy progress, as a percentage of material copied.
§
When extraction is complete, the display shows EXIT? and the CD Master tray opens automatically.
Press OK/Enter to exit the menu; this closes the session, the display shows FIXING!, and no more
tracks can be added to the target CD. If you want to add more tracks, insert another CD with tracks to
be extracted, then press Cancel/Display and use the same extraction procedure described above.
