Procedure to start charging
The card reader reads the following data of the debit card:
• PAN
• Card sequence number
• Expiration date
• Card signature
This information is encrypted immediately with the PublicKey by Giro-e and signed with the
PrivateKey of the charging point. This data record also includes a randomly generated request
ID (rUID). This data record is sent to the receiver by Giro-e and stored as hash value in the
charging point. Storage in the charging point is necessary to assign the charging
confirmation and the charging end to the customer using the debit card.
The IBAN of the user is stored exclusively in the secure environment of Giro-e. This prevents
tapping of the readable IBAN along the communication path and at the charging point.
The receiver of Giro-e decrypts the receive data record and checks it for the following
characteristics:
• Verified signature of the charging point
• Validity of the debit card
• Locking characteristics of the debit card
For an approved card, the receiver of Giro-e generates a 10-digit payment ID (pUID) for the
charging request.
The response data record includes the following data:
• Request ID (rUID)
• Payment ID (pUID)
• Display text
This data record is signed with the PrivateKey of Giro-e and sent to the charging point. The
signature verifies the sender for the charging point.
Procedure to end charging
When charging is completed, the following data is signed and transferred to the receiver of
Grio-e with the pUID as identifier:
• Initial meter status
• Final meter status
• Charged energy in kWh
• Start time of charging
• End time of charging
The IBAN is not included in this communication.
The data required by the calibration law are saved with the pUID as identification by the
charging point. Signed meter values are generally supported in Giro-e.
