x PAUSE MODE (DVD only)
Selects the pictur e in pause mode.
• AUTO: Moving subjects ar e output with no jitter , and
still objects ar e shown at high r esolution. The pictur e
remains clear even during slow playback when using
the shuttle ring (Clear Frame function). Normally select
this position.
• FIELD: A pictur e including subjects that move is output
with less jitter but at a lower r
• FRAME: A picture including subjects that do not move
dynamically is output with high r esolution.
x CHROMA FILTER
This filter contr ols the level of the colour (Chr oma)
element of the image' s video signal to contr ol colour
saturation level.
• OFF: This tur ns of f the chr oma filter . The filter is
normally set to of f.
• ON: This turns on the chr oma filter and adjusts the
colour saturation level so that colours do not bleed.
Notes
• This function is not available when the player is set to output
progressive video signals.
• If you use the COMPONENT VIDEO OUT connectors, set
"CHROMA FILTER" to "OFF" to maintain accurate colour
reproduction.
x PLAYBACK MEMORY
The player can stor e the SUBTITLE, VIDEO CONTROL
and other settings of each disc for up to 300 discs
(Playback Memory).
Set the Playback Memor y function on or of f.
• ON : stor es the settings in memor y when you eject the
disc or when you pr ess ?/ 1 on the r emote and the
player enters the standby mode with the disc still in the
player.
• OFF : does not stor e the settings in memor y.
The following settings ar e stor ed in memor y by the
Playback Memory function.

Notes
• The player can store the settings of up to 300 discs. When you
store the setting of disc number 301, the first disc setting is
canceled.
• Depending on the DVD, the information stored in the disc
takes priority over the Playback Memory settings and the
function does not work.
• Do not turn off the player by pressing POWER. Doing so may
cancel the settings. When you turn off the player, press x first
to stop playback and then press ?/1 on the remote. After the
power indicator lights up in red and the player enters standby
mode, press POWER on the player.
x PARENTAL CONTROL,
Sets a passwor d and playback limitation level for DVDs
with playback limitation for childr en.
The same passwor d is used for both Par ental Contr ol and
Custom Parental Contr ol (page 45) .

Control) ."
x TRACK SELECTION
Gives the sound track which contains the highest number
of channels priority when you play a DVD on which
multiple audio formats (PCM, DTS, MPEG audio or
Dolby Digital for mat) ar e recorded.
• OFF : No priority given.
• AUTO : Priority given.
Notes
• When you set this item to "AUTO," the language may change
depending on the "AUDIO" settings in "LANGUAGE SETUP."
The "TRACK SELECTION" setting has higher priority than the
"AUDIO" settings in "LANGUAGE SETUP" (page 55).
• If you set "DTS" in "AUDIO SETUP" to "OFF", the DTS sound
track is not played even if you set this item to "AUTO" and the
highest-numbered audio channel is recorded in DTS format.
• If PCM, DTS, MPEG audio and Dolby Digital sound tracks
have the same number of channels, the player selects PCM,
DTS, MPEG audio and Dolby Digital sound tracks in this order.
• Depending on the DVD, the audio channel with priority may
be predetermined. In this case, you cannot give priority to the
DTS, MPEG audio or Dolby Digital format by selecting
"AUTO."
