b) Support the bottom of the drive as you slide it out of the system, holding the drive by its sides.
c) Press Enter on the console to indicate that you removed the drive. The identify LED turns off.
8. If you are permanently removing more than one drive, repeat this procedure until all drives are
removed. Otherwise, continue with the next topic.
Replacing a disk drive or solid-state drive in the 9040-MR9 system
To replace a disk drive or solid-state drive (SSD) in the system, complete the steps in this procedure.
Procedure
1. Ensure that you have the electrostatic discharge (ESD) wrist strap on and that the ESD clip is plugged
into a ground jack or connected to an unpainted metal surface. If not, do so now.
2. Choose from the following options:
• If the system power is turned off, continue with step "3" on page 24.
• If the system has the power turned on and is running the AIX operating system, continue with step
"5" on page 25.
• If the system has the power turned on and is running the Linux operating system, continue with step
"7" on page 26.
3. To install or replace a drive when the system is powered off, complete the following steps:
