3. Choose from the following options:
• If the system has the power turned off, continue with step "4" on page 9.
• If the system has the power turned on and is running the AIX operating system, continue with step
"6" on page 10.
• If the system has the power turned on and is running the Linux operating system, continue with step
"8" on page 11.
4. To install or replace a drive when the system is powered off, complete the following steps:
a) Unlock the drive bay handle (A) by pressing the handle release latch and pulling the handle out
toward you. If the handle is not all the way out, the drive does not slide into the system.
b) Hold the drive by the top and bottom edges as you position the drive, and prepare to insert it into
the drive slot.
c) Slide the drive all the way into the system.
d) Push the drive bay handle (A) in until it locks.
