The specifications apply to a rated voltage [U] of 230 V. These spe-
cifications may vary at different voltages and in country-specific mod-
els.
Assembly
Pull the plug out of the socket before carrying out any
u
work on the power tool.
Auxiliary Handle (see figure A)
Do not operate your power tool without the auxiliary
u
handle (8).
Turn the wing bolt anti-clockwise and guide the auxiliary
handle in the required position over the drill chuck onto the
spindle collar of the power tool.
You can swivel the auxiliary handle (8) in order to achieve a
safe work posture that minimises your fatigue.
Swivel the auxiliary handle (8) to the required position and
retighten the wing bolt in clockwise direction.
Before carrying out any work, make sure that the wing
u
bolt is tightened. Loss of control can cause personal in-
jury.
Setting the drilling depth (see figure A)
You can use the depth stop (9) to set the required drilling
depth X.
Bosch Power Tools
Press the button for depth stop adjustment (6) and insert
the depth stop into the auxiliary handle .
The fluting on the depth stop (9) must face downwards.
Pull the depth stop far enough out that the distance between
the drill bit tip and the edge of the depth stop corresponds
to the required drilling depth X.

reactions and/or lead to respiratory infections of the user or
bystanders.
/ II
Certain dust, such as oak or beech dust, is considered carci-
nogenic, especially in connection with wood-treatment ad-
ditives (chromate, wood preservative). Materials containing
asbestos may only be worked by specialists.
– Provide for good ventilation of the working place.
– It is recommended to wear a P2 filter-class respirator.
Observe the relevant regulations in your country for the ma-
terials to be worked.

Changing the drill chuck
If your power tool does not have a drill spindle locking mech-
anism, you must have the drill chuck changed by an author-
ised after-sales service centre for Bosch power tools.
Operation
Starting Operation
u
Wear protective gloves when changing tools. The drill
chuck may heat up significantly when it is used for long
periods.
Avoid dust accumulation at the workplace. Dust can
easily ignite.
The drill chuck must be tightened using a tight-
ening torque of approx. 30–35 Nm.
Pay attention to the mains voltage. The voltage of the
power source must match the voltage specified on the
rating plate of the power tool. Power tools marked
with 230 V can also be operated with 220 V.
