Electrical connection
6.3 Connecting the motor components
The prewarning signal from the evaluation circuit in the SINAMICS converter can be
externally evaluated.
In the high short-term overload conditions, additional protective measures are required as a
result of the thermal coupling time of the temperature sensor.
NOTICE
Destruction of the temperature sensor if the insulation resistance is tested improperly.
If the test voltage is applied to only one of the two temperature sensor terminals, the
temperature sensor will be destroyed.
• Short-circuit the conductors of the temperature sensor cable before applying the test
NOTICE
Destruction of the motor for a thermally critical load
There is no adequate protection for a thermally critical load, for example, a high overload at
motor standstill.
• Take additional protective measures, for example, using an overcurrent relay.
• Activate the thermal motor model i
Note
Connecting the temperature sensor
• For motors with an encoder:
The temperature sensor is connected to the encoder connector together with the speed
encoder signal. The conductors for the temperature sensor are routed in the same cable
together with the encoder conductors.
• For motors without an encoder:
The temperature sensor is connected to a signal terminal block in the motor terminal box.
The temperature sensor cable is passed through the threaded hole in the front of the
motor terminal box housing.
The following diagram shows the resistance characteristic as a function of the temperature
for the temperature sensor Pt1000.
