OBJECTIONABLE EXHAUST
CAUTION:
Diesel engine exhaust and some
of its constituents are known to
the state of California to cause
cancer, birth defects and other
reproductive harm.
Always start and operate the
engine in a well-ventilated area.
If operating the engine in an
enclosed area, vent the exhaust
to the outside.
Do not modify or tamper with
the exhaust system or emission
control system.
Probable Causes:
Damaged or dirty air cleaner
Improper grade of fuel
Excessive exhaust back pressure
Misfiring cylinders
Lubricating oil not burned in
cylinder (being burned in
exhaust manifold or turbocharger)
Faulty injector setting
Faulty oil control rings
Excessive installation angle
Excessive oil in crankcase
High ambient air temperature
Thin air (high altitude)
Cetane rating of fuel too low
Air in the fuel system
Black or Gray Smoke
Blue Smoke
White Smoke
