Adjust the seat (to see how, see
"Seats" in the Index) so you can sit up
straight. Move your seat far enough
forward that your feet touch the part
of the car that is called the "toeboard"
(A). That way you'd be less likely to
slide under the lap belt in a crash.

If your vehicle has a front split seat and a
rear bench seat, someone can sit in the
center positions.
When you sit
in
a center seating position,
you have a lap safety belt, which has no
retractor.
Lap Belt

make the belt longer, tilt the latch plate
and pull it along the belt.
