6. Loosen the fuel throttle clip on the engine and
disconnect the throttle cable at the fuel pump.
7. Disconnect the wiring harness at the following
components.
a. Alternator - red lead and white connector.
b. Starter - red and white leads, and battery
positive lead.
c. Battery ground - engine block.
d. Fuel shut off solenoid - red and white leads.
e. Oil pressure switch - brown lead.
f. Water temperature switch - blue lead.
g. Preheater switch - red lead.
8. Cut the tie wraps and move the harness free of the
engine.
9. Remove the 8 bolts holding the flywheel adapter
plate to the engine and remove the adapter plate.

10.Position a hoist over the engine and use a chain to
hook to the engine installation brackets. See
Figure 15.
11.Remove the engine mount bolts.
12.Use caution when lifting the engine out of the unit.
Avoid contact with the radiator and solenoid. Make
sure engine mounts do not catch hydraulic and fuel
hoses during engine removal.

5.6 ENGINE INSTALLATION

1. Use caution when lowering the engine into the unit.
Avoid contact with the radiator and solenoid. Make
sure engine mounts do not catch hydraulic and fuel
hoses during engine installation.
2. Install the engine mount bolts, apply loctite to bolts
and tighten.
3. Install the flywheel adapter plate, apply loctite to
bolts and tighten. Lubricate the transmission drive
shaft.
4. Refer to the appropriate wiring diagram in
Electrical section to ensure correct wiring
connections. Connect the wiring harness as
follows:
a. Alternator - red lead and white connector.
b. Starter - red and white leads, and battery
positive lead.
c. Battery ground - engine block.
d. Fuel shut off solenoid - red and white leads
e. Oil pressure switch - brown lead.
f. Water temperature switch - blue lead
g. Preheater switch - red lead.
5. Tie wrap the wiring harness to avoid contact with
moving or hot parts.
6. Connect the throttle cable at the fuel throttle clip on
the engine and connect the throttle cable at the fuel
pump. Make sure that the throttle lever operates
the pump throttle control its full travel.
7. Reconnect the two fuel lines and open fuel shut off
switch.
8. Reconnect the two radiator hoses and service the
cooling system with a 50/50 mix of antifreeze and
clean fresh water.
9. Service the engine with clean fresh oil.
10.Reconnect the battery, positive cable first.
CAUTION: When connecting the battery
cables use caution not to ground the positive
terminal.
Avoid engine parts that rotate or get hot.
Operate unit in a well ventilated area.
11.Start the unit and check for proper engine
operation.
12.Install the engine hood.
