    Deciding On an Installation Environment Deciding On an Installation Site Install the machine in a quiet, stable location offering good operating conditions.     • Make sure to remove all the retainers. Any that remain may cause faulty operation or breakdown when the power is switched on. • Store the retainers carefully because they are needed again when transporting the machine. • For transportation of this machine, contact your authorized Roland DG Corporation dealer.     Setting Up the Machine Step 2: Attaching the Pad Tray The pad tray prevents discharged fluid from entering the machine when discharged fluid spills from the drain bottle. Point When the pad tray gets dirty, replace it with a spare pad tray (included) as needed. Procedure Open the panel cover.

Step 5: Ink Filling Firstly, clean the print heads with cleaning liquid when installing ink cartridges for the first time after shipment from the factory.
  • Page 34 Be careful not to insert the wrong cartridges. If you insert an incorrect cartridge by mistake, contact your authorized Roland DG Corporation dealer. • Be sure to insert cartridges horizontally. Otherwise, cleaning and filling may not be performed properly.

  • Page 36 Setting Up the Machine When the following screen is displayed, insert SOL INK cleaning cartridges into the slots whose numbers are flashing. The SOL INK cleaning cartridges are not differentiated by color. SET CL-LIQUID The screen shown below appears.   • Page 37 Setting Up the Machine Remove the drain bottle and discard the discharged fluid. IMPORTANT When you remove the drain bottle, a few drops of discharged fluid may come out of the machine. Exercise caution to prevent this fluid from soiling your hands. Quickly attach the emptied drain bottle to the machine once more. Close the panel cover.
  • Page 38 Setting Up the Machine Insert the ink cartridge for each color. IMPORTANT Be sure to hold the handle of the front cover and open and close it gently. Before inserting ink cartridges, shake each of them 50 times (about 15 seconds). The precipitation of the ingredients in the ink disables printing in normal color. So that the ink mixes well, shake the ink cartridge horizontally with a stroke length of around 5 cm (2 in.) from each end of the ink cartridge.
  • Page 39 Setting Up the Machine Quickly attach the emptied drain bottle to the machine once more. Close the panel cover. Make sure the drain bottle is installed, and then press [ENTER]. When the following screen is displayed, filling with ink is finished. SETUP MEDIA Close the front cover.

    Connecting to the Computer Introduction Make sure the machine is connected to the network by an Ethernet cable. The network settings on the machine must be made manually, using the operation panel. For information about how to make the settings, refer to P. 41 "Step 2: Make the Network Settings on the Printer" later in this step. Also, to perform printing from this machine, the software RIP included with the machine must be installed on the computer you are using.
