Accessing the Printer Driver
The P P rinter Properties dialog box can be opened from either within an application, or
directly from the Windows S S tart menu.
This manual refers to Windows XP operation.
The operations may vary depending on your operating system.
Opening the Printer Properties Dialog Box from Your Application
Program
Depending on your application program, the command and menu names
may differ, and there may be more steps involved in opening the P P rinter
Properties dialog box. For more details, see the user's manual for your
application.

In your application, select the command to print a document.
The P P rint dialog box can usually be opened by selecting P P rint from the F F ile menu.

Ensure that the name of your printer is selected. Then click P P references (or
Properties).
The P P rinter Properties dialog box opens.
Opening the Printer Properties Dialog Box Directly from the Start
Menu
This method is used for maintenance operations, such as P P rint Head Cleaning, or to
specify printer settings common to all application programs.

Click S S tart and select C C ontrol Panel, P P rinters and O O ther Hardware, and then
Printers and Faxes.
For non-Windows XP, click S S tart, select S S ettings, and then P P rinters.

Double-click the icon of your printer.

Open the F F ile menu and select P P rinting Preferences (or P P roperties).
In Windows NT 4.0, select D D ocument Default. (iP4000 only)
The P P rinter Properties dialog box opens.
When opening the P P rinter Properties dialog box from P P roperties, the default Window
tabs (e.g., the P P orts tab, or the D D etails tab) are displayed. These tabs are not
displayed, when the P P rinter Properties dialog box is opened from P P rinting
Preferences or applications. For details about these tabs, refer to the Windows
documentation.
