Running a DSL QUICK test

The SmartClass ADSL/Copper Tester offers a suite of testing options,
including ping, FTP, trace route, VCC scan, and others. All of these testing
options are described in this document, but not all options are supported with
all versions of the product. All configurations include IP ping, while advanced
IP tests and video are optional.
Run a DSL QUICK test when you want to connect to the far end of the circuit
and gather statistics, but do not require longer term testing or advanced IP
testing.
To run a DSL QUICK test
1 If the tester is not on, press the Power key to turn it on.
2 Connect a cable from the line to the DSL jack on the right side of the
ADSL/Copper Tester.
3 Select DSL QUICK.
The modem begins to boot.
4 If you have previously specified test settings, go to
To specify test settings, do the following:
a Select WAN SETUP and specify WAN settings. (For more information,
see
"Specifying WAN settings" on page
b Select PING SETUP and specify PING settings. (For more information,
see
"Specifying ping settings" on page
c Select QUICK TIME and specify the duration of the quick test, between
1 and 15 minutes.
5 To begin the test, select DSL QUICK again.
The modem finishes booting and then begins to synchronize. Modem
synchronization may take a few minutes.
After the modems have achieved synchronization, the results screen
appears and statistics are gathered and displayed.
The modem will automatically disconnect after 2 minutes but the results
will be held in view until you exit the test.
