Door Icons
Door class icons include the turnstile, the card reader access,
and the door icons. There is no dialog box for this icon.
To open a door momentarily, press and hold the door icon.
The icon turns green until it is released. The door closes and
the icon turns back to gray when the icon is released.
To latch a door open, first press the "Control" button (page 2-
8), then immediately press the door icon. If the door has been
defined as both latching and "Enabled Control" by the icon
setup program, the icon turns green and remains green. The
door is now unlocked. To relock the door, first press the
"Control" button, then immediately press the door icon. The
icon turns gray and the door is locked.
A door may be defined as alarming at icon setup. If the icon is
defined as alarming, it acts similar to an Alarm icon, page 2-
12. The icon flashes red when its alarm is received (door is
opened). To acknowledge the alarm, press the icon. If the
alarm has cleared (door is closed), the icon turns gray. If the
alarm has not cleared, the icon stays red until the alarm is
cleared, but stops flashing.
If a door icon goes into an alarm state, it may remain red after
being acknowledged. This means the door is not closed yet.
The operator may unlock it (by pressing the icon to
momentarily release it, or by selecting the "Control" button,
page 2-8, then pressing the icon to latch it in the unlocked
state) when it is still red. When this is done, the key portion
remains red, but the area around the key turns green. When the
alarm clears (the door shuts), the key turns green and the area
around the key turns gray.
If the door is defined as alarming and is shuntable, the operator
may shunt the alarm by pressing the "Shunt" button (see page
2-8) then pressing the door icon. This is useful if a door is left
unlocked for use during the day. If the alarm were not
shunted, every time the door is opened, an alarm would be
generated.
An icon may be set up to display operator instructions under
alarm conditions and/or may require an operator response to be
entered. See page 2-12, Alarm icons, for examples of the
operator instructions and response dialog boxes.
Gate and Overhead Door Icons
To control a gate or overhead door, a dialog box is displayed
with either one button labeled "Open/Close", two buttons
labeled "Open" and "Close", or three buttons labeled "Open",
"Stop", and "Close", depending on the type of gate control
defined by the setup program. The Three-button and one-
button icon dialog boxes are illustrated below.
To open the gate using any of the dialog boxes, press the
"Open" button. The icon turns green and stays green
indicating that the gate is opened. To close the gate, press
"Close". The icon turns gray.
In a three-button gate, the gate opening or closing can be
interrupted by the Stop button. To stop the gate, press "Stop";
the icon turns dark green. This is to warn the operator that the
gate may not be in a securely closed or opened state.
Note: Gate controls are notorious for getting confused.
Always confirm that the gate is in the state it APPEARS to
be in, and that the Excalibur program thinks it is in. If it
isn't, re-open or re-close it to "re-synchronize" the gate and
Excalibur.
