EXCALIBUR
Alarm Icons
Alarm class icons include the general alarm, panic alarm,
callin button, and vehicle detector icons. Door icons may also
be defined as alarmed (see Door icons, page 2-13). There is no
dialog box for these icons.
Alarms received by Excalibur are placed into a queue until
acknowledged. The alarm queue can hold 1024 alarms. The
associated alarm icons may be prioritized at setup. The alarm
with the highest priority goes to the top of the queue. When an
alarm is received and is at the top of the queue, the map that
the alarm icon is located on is automatically called, the icon
flashes red, and the associated alarm sound is activated.
Alarms may be defined to call cameras to specific monitors.
Some monitors may alternately sequence through cameras
associated with all pending alarms and others may show the
alarm at the top of the queue. When an alarm is cleared, its
camera is removed from the monitor or sequence and the next
alarm camera appears.
The operator may acknowledge the alarm by simply pressing
the icon that is flashing. When an alarm is acknowledged, the
icon turns red or gray. If the alarm is not cleared (e.g., the
door is still open), the icon turns red. If, or when, the alarm
clears, the icon will automatically turn gray. The exceptions to
this are the callin button and vehicle detector alarm icons.
They turn gray as soon as they are acknowledged.
Alarms may also be acknowledged by using the Alarms button
at the bottom of the Excalibur Window (see page 2-8).
The alarm may be defined to request an operator response (the
"Log Guard Action" field in the alarm icon setup). When an
alarm is received and the operator acknowledges that alarm
icon, an action response box is displayed, as illustrated below.
This box requires a guard/operator response. Enter the
operator action taken in response to this alarm (maximum of
64 characters), then press "OK". This information is saved in
the log and printed on the logging printer.
Alarm icons may also be defined to display operator
instructions in the event of an alarm, as illustrated below. Up
to 240 characters of instructions may be displayed when the
alarm is acknowledged.
In addition, the alarm icon may defined to include both
operator instructions and a response field, as illustrated below
(a combination of both prior message boxes).
This box requires a guard/operator response. Enter the
information required and press "OK". This information is
saved in the log and printed on the logging printer.
