5.8 Checking Intercooler

1. Release clamp

2. Disconnect
hose
L
from
cap B1.
3. Connect
a
suitable pump
onto the infeed
and
outfeed
unions of cap
B1 in order to
clean the pipes
with a solution

distilled
water with 10%
hydrochloric acid at a temperature of 50° C.
4. After the cleaning operations mentioned in point 3 above,
rinse inside the pipes with water only, using the pump as
specified in point 3.
5. Loosen capscrews A and remove caps B1 and B2.
6. Remove Intercooler C from intake manifold E.
7. Perform the cleaning operations, immerse components
B1, B2 and C in a solution of distilled water with an
alkaline soap that is compatible with aluminium.

10. Put gasket F on intercooler C.

8. Make sure that Intercooler C is free from deposits and dirt
of any kind.
9. Make sure that all the holes in surfaces D1, D2 are free
from deposits and dirt of any kind.
NOTE:
If the inside of the pipes on surfaces D1
and D2 are clogged with deposits even
after having been cleaned as per point 3,
the pipes must be cleaned using specific
mechanical tools.
