TROUBLE SHOOTING GUIDE
PROBLEM
When the machine is switched on,
the steam and hot water lights are
flashing.
Espresso does not run through
Espresso runs out too quickly
Espresso is too cold

POSSIBLE CAUSES
Steam dial is not in 'STAND BY' position
Machine is not turned on or plugged in
Water tank is empty
Espresso grind is too fine
Too much ground espresso in the filter
Espresso grind tamped too firmly
The filter is blocked
The espresso grind is too coarse
Not enough ground espresso in the filter
Ground espresso not tamped firmly enough
Cups not preheated
Milk not heated enough (if making a
cappuccino or latté)
WHAT TO DO
Turn the Steam dial to 'STAND BY' position. Machine will
commence normal heat up procedure.
Ensure the machine is plugged in and the POWER button is
pressed to 'on'.

Ensure you use a suitable espresso grind. Refer to
'Adjusting the Grind Size' on page 35.
Refer to 'Adjusting the Grind Amount', page 35.
Refer to 'Tamping The Ground Espresso', page 37.
Clean the filters. Refer to 'Cleaning The Filters', page 54.
Ensure you use a suitable espresso grind. Refer to
'Adjusting the Grind Size' on page 35.

Preheat cups. Refer to 'Pre-Warming The Cups', page 34.
When the base of the jug becomes too hot to touch this is
when the milk is heated at the correct temperature. Refer to
'The Art of Texturing Milk', page 41.
