6.3 LACP Setup

This page allows you to configure LACP for each port. The switch supports both static trunking
and dynamic Link Aggregation Control Protocol (LACP). LACP configured ports can
automatically negotiate a trunked link with LACP-configured ports on another device. You can
configure any number of ports on the switch as LACP, as long as they are not already
configured as part of a static trunk. If ports on another device are also configured as LACP, the
switch and the other device will negotiate a trunk link between them. If an LACP trunk consists
of more than eight ports, all other ports will be placed in a standby mode. Should one link in
the trunk fail, one of the standby ports will automatically be activated to replace it. The LACP
Table has one row for each port and three columns.
The columns are:
• Port - The front-panel port number.
• LACP Enabled on Port - Allows LACP to be enabled or disabled. When the box is
checked, LACP is enabled.
• Key Value (0..255, 0 means auto-generated key) - Used to determine the link
aggregation group membership, and to identify this device to other switches during
negotiations.
There are three main buttons associated with this page:
• HELP - Displays this text.
• APPLY - Updates the switch configuration. No changes are made to the configuration
until this button is pressed.
• REFRESH - Reloads the current page with the latest configuration settings.
