7. Preparing the machine for
operation
Risk of injury!
Observe the safety instructions in
the section "For your safety". (
Follow the instructions in the
section "Transporting the machine"
when lifting the scarifier out of the
packaging. In particular, wear
gloves and avoid contact with the
blades/spring-tines. (
● Place the machine on level and firm
ground when performing all the
operations described.

● Before using for the first time, remove
the aerator roller from the underside of
the machine. Remove the two cable ties
for this purpose.

7.1 Assembling the handlebar

● Open the quick-clamping
devices (1) and fold the lower

handlebar (2) rearwards. Hold it at the
1
desired height and close the quick-

clamping devices again.

● Fasten the two centre handlebar
1
sections (D) to the lower handlebar (2)

as illustrated. To do this, insert the
bolts (G) in the holes provided from the

outside, place the washer (H) on the
4
inside and then fasten everything using
2
the rotary handles (F). A cable guide (I)
1
is also attached on the outside on the
2 right.

● Then assemble the upper handlebar (3)
1
in the same way on the centre
handlebar sections (D).
● Finally press the electric cable (4) into
the cable guides (I).
7.2 Installing the grass catcher

● Pull the grass catcher box (1)
with the base plate downwards over the
grass catcher box frame (2) as
illustrated. The handle (3) must be on
the outside of the box.

● Position the integrated plastic
profiles (4) on the grass catcher box
frame and press into place.
● Attach the grass catcher box. (

7.3 Replacing the scarifying

unit/aerator roller

– Switch off the motor and
disconnect the mains plug. (
– Place the machine in the cleaning
position. ( 11.2)

Removing the scarifying unit/aerator
roller:
● 1 Unscrew the bolts (1) on the right
side of the machine using the Allen key
(included in standard equipment).
● 2 Lift the scarifying unit/aerator
roller (2) on the right side.
● 3 Pull out on the left side.
Installing the scarifying unit/aerator
roller:
The bolts (1) must be replaced
every fifth time the scarifying
unit/aerator roller is installed and
removed. Your STIHL specialist
dealer can provide you with spare
parts.
● Attach the bracket (3) to the bearing (4)
at the end of the scarifying unit/aerator
roller (2).
● Insert the scarifying unit/aerator roller

into the protruding shaft.
● Press the other end of the scarifying
unit/aerator roller together with the
bracket (3), with the flat side facing out,
into the bracket on the machine.
● Insert the bolts (1) and tighten.
