6-4. Printing Image Defects

When cleaning the thermal head, use the supplied cleaning ribbon. Use dried waste materials unless otherwise specified.
When using alcohol, use the waste materials dampened with a small amount of alcohol.
Symptom
White streaks in the paper feed direction
appear on the printing side.
Black streaks in the paper feed direction appear
on the printing side.
Scratches in the paper feed direction appear on
the printing side.
Scratches in the paper feed direction in the
area approx. 12 mm from the edge of the paper
appear during KG printing.
White streaks in the paper feed direction in the
area approx. 12 mm (outside) from the edge of
the paper appear.
Dimples appear on the printing side periodically
in 44 mm pitch.
Bumps appear on the printing side periodically
in 50 mm pitch.
Black lines appear on the printing side periodi-
cally in approximately 44 mm pitch.
(*1) In case that the foreign object such as paper fiber or oil clings to the roller, wipe it with ethyl alcohol. Also, perform the cleaning periodically.

Residual of ribbon clung to the thermal
head when L/2L is printed.
Foreign objects clung to the platen when
L/2L is printed.
Foreign objects clung to the pinch roller.
Foreign objects such as paper fiber
clung to the platen.
Hexagon nut securing the capstan pulley
is loose.
Treatment
Clean the thermal head.
