2. If faceseal air leakage is detected, reposition the facepiece on your face and/or readjust tension of the straps to eliminate the leakage. Repeat step #1.
Care must be taken when performing the positive pressure seal check not to exhale too hard. The aim is to check the seal, not disturb the seal
between the mask and the face.
Negative Pressure User Seal Check
1. Completely plug the blower end of the breathing tube with the palm of your hand (Fig. 25).
2. Inhale gently and hold your breath for 5 to 10 seconds. If the facepiece collapses slightly, a proper fit has been obtained.
3. If air leakage is detected, reposition the facepiece on your face and/or readjust the tension of the straps to eliminate the leakage. Repeat steps 1-2.
Connecting and Donning the Motor Blower
1. Connect the trunk end of the BT-60 Series Breathing Tube to the outlet of the 3M™ Motor Blower by aligning the two pins on the breathing tube to
the slots on top of the blower, inserting the connector until it cannot be inserted further, and then turning clockwise a quarter turn until it meets the
internal stop (Fig. 26).
2. To power on, press and hold the smaller, power button (Fig. 3-1) for 1 second. Ensure blower indicator lights and alarms are working properly,
according to the blower User Instructions.
3. Ensure the blower is operating in tight-fitting mode. The tight-fitting facepiece icon is lit when the blower is in tight-fitting mode (Fig. 3-6). Once
the blower is running in tight-fitting mode it will remain in tight-fitting mode, even if the breathing tube is removed, as long as the blower is not
powered down.
4. Place the motor blower at your back and connect the belt around your waist. The belt should be snug but comfortable.
5. Use a mirror, or have a buddy examine the breathing tube trunk to ensure it is not twisted.

CLEANING AND STORAGE

Cleaning is recommended after each use. Follow the cleaning and storage procedures detailed in the User Instructions for the half and full-
facepiece respirator and the Powered Air Purifying Respirator being used.
Follow the cleaning procedure detailed below for the BT-60 Series Breathing Tubes. Do not clean breathing tubes with solvents. Cleaning with solvents
may degrade components and reduce effectiveness.
Cleaning BT-60 Series Breathing Tubes
Breathing tubes can be cleaned by wiping with a soft wet cloth, rinsing, or immersing in warm water, temperature not to exceed 120°F. Scrub with a
soft brush until clean, if needed. Add neutral detergent if necessary. Do not use cleaners containing lanolin or other oils. Rinse in fresh, warm water
and air dry in non-contaminated atmosphere.
