2. Place respirator over your mouth and nose, then pull head harness over crown of your head (Fig. 9).
3. Take bottom straps in both hands, place them in back of your neck, and hook them together (Fig. 10).
4. Position facepiece low on the bridge of your nose for optimal visibility and best fit.
5. Adjust top straps first (Fig. 11), then lower neck straps by pulling on ends. DO NOT pull too tight. (Strap tension may be decreased by pushing out
on back side of buckles.)

User Seal Checks

Always check the seal of the respirator on your face before entering a contaminated area. You must pass either the positive pressure user seal check
or the negative pressure user seal check (or both) prior to using the respirator in a contaminated area. If you cannot achieve a proper fit, DO NOT enter
contaminated area. See your supervisor.
Positive Pressure User Seal Check
1. Place the palm of your hand over the exhalation valve cover and exhale gently. If facepiece bulges slightly and no air leaks are detected between your
face and the facepiece, a proper fit has been obtained (Fig. 12).
2. If faceseal air leakage is detected, reposition the facepiece on your face and/or readjust tension of the straps to eliminate the leakage. Repeat step #1.
Care must be taken when performing the positive pressure seal check not to exhale too hard. The aim is to check the seal, not disturb the seal
between the mask and the face.
Negative Pressure User Seal Check
1. Completely plug the blower end of the breathing tube with the palm of your hand (Fig. 25).
2. Inhale gently and hold your breath for 5 to 10 seconds. If the facepiece collapses slightly, a proper fit has been obtained.
3. If air leakage is detected, reposition the facepiece on your face and/or readjust the tension of the straps to eliminate the leakage. Repeat steps 1-2.
Donning the FF-400 Full Facepiece Respirator
Note: Two key factors in effective donning are placing the nose in the nose cup initially to center the respirator on the face and to tighten the straps
twice following steps 6-8 first to snug the respirator then repeating steps 6-8 a second time to secure the facepiece seal. Care must be taken to not
over tighten bottom straps on the first turn.
1. Fully loosen all six headstraps.
2. Lift the Y-branches of the BT-60 Series Tube along with the facepiece over your head so the Y-branches of the breathing tube are resting on your
shoulders and the faceseal of the respirator is in front of you.
3. Hold the front of the facepiece with one hand and the straps/comfort cradle away from the facepiece with the other hand, creating an opening for
the head.
4. Pull the respirator assembly down over the head with the headstraps at the back of the head.
5. Place the nose in the nose cup and chin in the chin cup area then press the facepiece firmly and evenly against the face (Fig. 13).

6. Tighten the bottom straps one at a time. Be careful to tighten both sides equally (Fig. 14).
7. Tighten the middle straps one at a time. Be careful to tighten both sides equally (Fig. 15).
