TROUBLESHOOTING

Refer to the chart below when this unit does not function properly. If the problem you are experiencing is not listed
below, or if the remedy explanation does not help, set this unit to the standby mode, disconnect the power cord, and
contact your nearest authorized YAMAHA dealer or service center.
General
Problem
This unit fails to turn
on when STANDBY/
ON (or SYSTEM
POWER) is pressed,
or enters the standby
mode soon after the
power has been
turned on.
No sound

TROUBLESHOOTING
Cause
The power cord is not connected or the
plug is not inserted properly.
The impedance setting is incorrect.
The protection circuitry has been
activated.
This unit has been exposed to a strong
external electric shock (such as lightning
or strong static electricity).
The input or output cable connections are
incorrect.
The optimizer microphone is connected.
The input mode setting is incorrect.
No appropriate input source has been
selected.
Speaker connections are not secure.
The front speakers have not been selected
properly.
The volume is turned down.
The sound is muted.
The signals this unit cannot reproduce are
being received from a source component
e.g.: a CD-ROM.
Remedy
Connect the power cord firmly.
Set the impedance to match your speakers.
Make sure all speaker wire connections on this unit
and all speakers are secure, and that the connection
wires are not touching anything other than their
respective connections.
Set this unit in the standby mode, disconnect the
power cord, plug it back in after 30 seconds, then use
it as normal.
Connect the cables properly. If the problem persists,
the cables may be defective.
Disconnect the optimizer microphone.
Select a different input mode.
Select an appropriate input source using INPUT
SELECTOR, MULTI CH INPUT or the input selector
buttons.
Secure the connections.
Select the front speakers you want to use with
SPEAKERS A and/or B.
Turn up the volume.
Press MUTE or any operation button on this unit to
cancel mute and adjust the volume.
Play a source whose signals this unit can reproduce.
