Additional Test Requirements - Alesis ADAT BRC Service Manual

These tests require the use of 2 ADATs and therefore are optional tests. However, if 2 ADATs
are available, these tests must be conducted.

9.0 Additional Test Requirements

In order to conduct all of tests described herein, the following additional equipment, connections
and setup is required. Note that the BRC setup detailed in step 3.1 must also be completed in order to
conduct the tests described below. However, if you are continuing the test from step 8, this setup should
already be completed.
9.1. Additional Equipment Requirements
− (1) ADAT Digital Multitrack Recorder (for a total of 2 ADATs)
− (1) ADAT Sync cable (for a total of two Sync cables)
− (1) Formatted ADAT SVHS cassette with audio recorded on tracks 1 and 2. Use this
tape in ADAT No. 2.
− (2) ADAT Fiber Optic cables
9.2. Additional Connection Requirements
9.2.1. Connect an ADAT sync cable between ADAT No. 1 Sync Out Connector to
ADAT No. 2 Sync In Connector.
9.2.2. Connect an ADAT Fiber Optic cable from ADAT No. 1 Optical Out connector to
ADAT No. 2 Optical In connector.
9.2.3. Connect an ADAT Fiber Optic cable from ADAT No. 2 Optical Out connector to
ADAT No. 1 Optical In connector.
9.3. Additional Setup Requirements
9.3.1. Power on the BRC. Verify that the LCD displays the message
9.3.2. Press the EDIT button. Verify that its LED illuminates
9.3.3. Press the DIGITAL I/O button. Verify that its LED illuminates.
9.3.4. Verify that the LCD displays the message
9.3.5. Press the DIGITAL I/O button again. Verify that the LCD displays the message
9.3.6. Press TRACK 9 RECORD READY. Verify that its green LED illuminates.
9.3.7. Press TRACK 10 RECORD READY. Verify that its green LED illuminates.
9.3.8. Press the TAPE OFFSET button. Verify that its LED illuminates.
9.3.9. Verify that the LCD displays the message
9.3.10. Press the TAPE OFFSET button again. Verify that the LCD displays the message
9.3.11. Press the KEYPAD
