How to use

To reduce the risk of electric shock, this
appliance has a polarized plug (one
blade is wider than the other). This plug
will fit in a polarized outlet only one way.
If the plug does not fit fully in the outlet,
reverse the plug. If it still does not fit,
contact a qualified electrician to install
the proper outlet. Do not change the
plug in any way.

Embedded Dirt FINDER

feature
(some models only)
With red and green lights (A), the
19
'Dirt FINDER' system alerts the user
to areas of carpet that may need more
cleaning attention. It is able to sense
when larger amounts of dirt particles,
especially embedded dirt, are removed.
To let you know that the "Dirt FINDER'
feature is ready the red light will come on
when the cleaner is first turned on. After
a few seconds, the red light will go off
and the green light will come on.
Cleaning may then begin.
14
A
To help keep the cord out of the
14
way while vacuuming, position cord
down into cord clip (A) located between
top cord hook and handle.
17
Transporting cleaner
To move your cleaner from room to
17
room, put handle in upright
position, tilt cleaner back on rear wheels
and push forward.
The green light will remain on through-
TM
out cleaning except when the detector
senses that a larger amount of dirt is
being picked up; then the red light will
come on.
When the red light is on, you should take
additional cleaning strokes in the area
until it changes to green.

B
15
Plug cord into electrical outlet.
To turn cleaner ON, push switch (B)
toward front of cleaner.
To turn cleaner OFF, push (B) toward
back of cleaner.
18
The cleaner can also be moved by
18
using the carrying handle.
•The red light may seldom come on
during cleaning. This means that your
cleaner is picking up primarily fine
surface dust and lint which the system
may not detect, or that the carpet is
generally clean. To increase the
feature's sensitivity to dirt, set the
switch (B) to the "Hi" position.
•At other times, the red light may stay
on for a considerable amount of time.
This means that the carpet contains a
high level of dirt which is being removed
by the cleaner. To decrease the
feature's sensitivity to dirt, set the
switch to the "Reg." (Regular) position.
