Diesel Fuels

Use only com m ercially available
vehicular diesel fuels No. 2 or
No. 1 (ASTM D 975 No. 2-D or
No. 1-D).
Change engine oil in compliance
w ith section "Engine Oil Change
and Oil Filter Service" if diesel fuels
are used w hose sulphur content
exceeds 0.5% by w eight. Marine
diesel fuel, heating oil or the like
m ust not be used.
A t very lo w temperatures the flu id ­
ity o f No. 2-D diesel fuel may be­
come insufficient due to paraffin
separation.
To avoid m alfunctions, No. 2-D
diesel fuel of a lowered cloud point
is m arketed during the cold sea­
son.
If w in te r diesel fuel is used, there
w ill hardly be any m alfunctions at
outside tem peratures reaching as
lo w as — 16° C/ + 3° F.
Varying w ith the tem perature, add
a certain q ua ntity o f kerosene, if
only No. 2-D sum m er diesel fuels or
less cold resistant w inte r diesel
fuels are available or if tem pera­
tures drop below — 16° C/ + 3° F.
If regular gasoline does have to be
added, its proportion should not
exceed 3 0% . Premium fuels are
not be used.
Engine pow er may drop according
to the proportion o f supplem entary
fuel. For this reason, keep percent­
age o f fuel added to the m inim um
necessitated by the am bient te m ­

The fo llo w in g table can be used as
a reference, if it becomes necessary
to add kerosene to No. 2-D diesel
fuel. The m ixing ratios shown
refer to the total m ixture based
on No. 2-D sum m er diesel fuel.
W e recommend not to exceed the
m ixture ratio, dependent on pre­
vailing temperatures.
