No. 1 (ASTM D 975 No. 2-D o r No.
1-D).

and Oil F ilte r S e rvice " if diesel fuels
are used w hose s u lp h u r co n te n t ex­
ceeds 0.5% by w e ig h t. M arine diesel
fuel, heating oil or the like m ust not
be used.
At very low te m p e ra tu re s the flu id ity
o f No. 2-D diesel fuel may becom e
in s u ffic ie n t due to p a ra ffin separa­
tio n.
To avoid m a lfu n ctio n s, No. 2-D
diesel fue l o f a low ered clo u d p o in t
is m arketed d u rin g the co ld season.
A t te m p era tu re s b e lo w 0° C/ + 32° F
use w in te riz e d o r No. 1 diesel fuel
only. If n o t available, a certain q u a n ­
tity o f kerosene may be added. M ix­
ing o n ly to be done w ith in the c a rs'
fuel tank. Kerosene has to be fille d
in before the diesel fuel.

kerosene added to the m in im u m
necessitaded by the a m b ie n t te m p ­
erature.
The fo llo w in g tab le can be used as
a reference, if a dd ing of kerosene
becom es necessary. The m ixin g
ra tio s show n refer to the total m ix­
ture.
Even in extrem e c lim a tic c o n d i­
tio n s, the m axim um m ixtu re ratio
sh o u ld n o t exceed 50%.

m ix diesel fu e l and kerosene when
s m o kin g , near an open flam e or
w h ile the ve h ic le 's engine is run­
