SEATS AND RESTRAINTS
General Motors recommends using a
genuine GM child restraint.
Ensure that the child restraint to be
installed is compatible with the
vehicle type.
Make sure that the mounting location
of the child restraint within the
vehicle is correct as per the tables
included in this manual. See Where to
Put the Restraint 0 76.
The provisions established by the laws
have priority over the provisions of
this manual.
Danger
Never use a single seat belt with an
adult and a child. During an impact,
the seat belt will exert strong
pressure on the child, causing
serious or fatal injury.
Never allow two children to share
the same seat belt. Both could
suffer serious injuries in a crash.
Danger
Infants and children must never be
carried on the lap of another
occupant.
Although an infant does not weigh
much, it will be so heavy during a
crash that it will be impossible to
hold it, even if the occupant is
attached to the seat belt.

Where to Put the Restraint

According to accident statistics,
children and infants are safer when
properly restrained in an appropriate
child restraint secured in a rear
seating position.
Whenever possible, children aged
12 and under should be secured in a
rear seating position.
Never put a rear-facing child restraint
in the front. This is because the risk
to the rear-facing child is so great if
the airbag deploys.
Danger
NEVER use a rearward-facing child
restraint on a seat protected by an
ACTIVE AIRBAG in front of it;
DEATH or SERIOUS INJURY to the
CHILD can occur.
