Base Positioning

In the typical workstation arrangement shown on page 1-1, the system unit is in the
horizontal position. You can use the system unit in either the horizontal or vertical position as
shown in this illustration. The unit has a removable base for stabilizing when the unit is in the
vertical position. The base is attached to the bottom of the system unit when the system unit
is in the horizontal position. See Chapter 7 for instructions on changing the base position.
Vertical Position
Attention: Do not operate the system unit when it is on the side that does not have base
screw mounting holes. This may result in damaged or lost data.

Disk Drives

The system unit has disk drive positions inside the system unit.There are no operator
controls on these internal disk drives.
The disk is a permanent part of the drive and is sometimes called a fixed-disk .
Sometimes data is lost because of user action, accident, or equipment trouble, so you
should back up disk data at regular intervals. See your operating system documentation for
information about using diskettes or tape drives to back up files.
