Introduction

This document is a global document. Contact your system supplier or your
Nortel representative to verify that the hardware and software described
are supported in your area.

Subject

This Nortel technical publication (NTP) provides information specific to the
implementation of the Fiber Remote Intelligent Peripheral Equipment (IPE)
service.
It describes the operation of the fiber-optic equipment and provides
specific information on how to install and maintain this equipment as an
integral part of a system. Fiber Remote IPE configuration procedures
are identical to the equivalent non-fiber equipment. However, there are
some additional software commands that can be executed using the
Man-Machine Interface (MMI) terminal to specifically control fiber-optic
equipment.
Note on legacy products and releases
This NTP contains information about systems, components, and features
that are compatible with Nortel Communication Server 1000 Release 4.5
