Adjusting the Auger Control Cable
DANGER
The snowthrower contains a rotating auger and impeller that
throws snow. Fingers or feet can quickly become caught in
the auger or impeller, and result in traumatic amputation or
severe laceration.
• DO NOT tighten the auger cable too much. This could
cause the auger to rotate when the auger control lever is
not pressed down.
• Before maintenance or repairs, turn the engine OFF. Wait
for parts to stop. Then, remove the ignition key or push/pull
key
1. Shut off the engine and remove the key.
2. With the auger control lever released, make sure that the
hook (A, Figure 30) barely touches the lever (B). There can
be a maximum of 1/32" (0.8 mm) clearance.
3. To adjust the auger control cable, hold the adjustment screw
(D) and loosen the nut (C).
Note: The adjustment screw is a phillips screw. Put a screwdriver
through the spring to turn or hold the head.
4. Turn the adjustment screw (D) to tighten or loosen the cable.
5. Hold the screw (D) and tighten the nut (C).
6. Use the test that follows to check the operation of the auger
and impeller control.

• Release the auger control. Make sure that the auger
and impeller stops in 5 seconds.
Note: DO NOT use the snowthrower, if it does not operate as
described, DO NOT use it. Contact an authorized service dealer
to have the unit inspected, adjusted or repaired.
Adjusting the Traction Control Cable and
Drive Belt
The traction cables and drive belt are adjusted at the factory
and no adjustment should be necessary. However, if the cables
have become stretched or the traction drive belt is slipping,
adjustment may be necessary. Please see an authorized service
dealer for this adjustment.
Adjusting the Easy Turn™ Cable
DANGER
The snowthrower contains a rotating auger and impeller that
throws snow. Fingers or feet can quickly become caught in
the rotating auger or impeller that can result in traumatic
amputation or severe laceration.
• Turn the engine OFF, wait for all moving parts to stop,
and remove the ignition key or push/pull key before
maintenance or repairs.
The Easy Turn™ cable can stretch slightly after repeated usage
during the first season of operation. If the cable has stretched,
it can prevent the drive gears from disengaging when the control
is activated.
1. Shut off the engine and remove the key.
2. Use one wrench to hold stationary the adjustment nut (B,
Figure 31) and one wrench to loosen the jam nut (A).
3. With the Easy Turn control released, turn the adjustment
nut (B) clockwise or counterclockwise until slack is removed
from the cable. Do not tighten the cable because it will
actuate the Easy Turn feature when the control is
disengaged.
4. When adjustment is complete, hold the adjustment nut (B)
and tighten the jam nut (A).
