Unpacking and Repacking
The devices are packed at the factory to meet the requirements of IEC 60255–21.
Unpacking and repacking must be performed with the usual care, without force and only
with the aid of suitable tools. Visually check the device immediately upon arrival for correct
mechanical condition.
Please also always follow instructions if they are supplied with the device.
The shipping packaging can be reused in the same manner for further shipment.
The storage packaging of individual devices is not sufficient for shipping.
If other packaging is used, the shock requirements acc. to IEC 60255–21–1 Class II and
IEC 60255–21–2 Class 1 must be met.
The device should be in the final operating area for a minimum of two hours before the
power source is first applied. This gives the device time to attain temperature equilibrium,
thus avoiding dampness and condensation.
Storage
SIPROTEC
devices and associated assemblies should be stored in a dry and clean place.
®
The device and its replacement modules must be stored within the temperature range –10
°C to +55 °C.
The relative humidity must not cause condensation or ice.
To avoid premature ageing of the electrolyte capacitors in the power supply unit, a
temperature range of +10 °C to +35 °C (+50 °F to +95 °F) is recommended for storage.
After extended storage, the power supply of the device should be energised, approximately
every two years, for one or two days to regenerate the electrolytic capacitors in the power
supply unit. This should also be done before the device is put into service.
