Electronic reserve key w ithout
remote control functions, plus
rem ovable m echanical key.
The electronic reserve key (1)
w orks only in the steering lock.
The m echanical key (2) w orks only
in the driver's door, trunk, and
storage com partm ent locks.
To use the m echanical key (2),
rem ove it from its electronic
reserve key (1).
Notes:
W e recom m end that you carry the
electronic reserve key with m ech­
anical key with you and keep it in a
safe place (e.g. your wallet) so that
it is always handy. Never leave the
electronic reserve key in the
vehicle.
Rem ove the m echanical key from
the electronic main key when using
valet parking service. To prevent
access to trunk or storage co m ­
partm ents lock them separately.
Obtaining R eplacem ent Keys
Y our vehicle is equipped with a
theft deterrent locking system
requiring a special key m anu­
facturing process. For security
reasons, replacem ent keys can
only be obtained from your
authorized M ercedes-Benz dealer.
Start Lock-O ut
Im portant!
R em oving the electronic key from
the steering lock activates the start
lock-out. The engine cannot be
started.
Inserting the electronic key in the
steering lock deactivates the start
lockout.
Note:
In case the engine cannot be
started, the system is not opera­
