Engine Oil C onsum ption
Engine oil consum ption checks
should only be m ade after the
break-in period. During the break-
in period, higher oil consum ption
may be noticed and is normal.
Frequent driving at high engine
speeds results in increased
consum ption.

Fuel Reserve and Fuel Cap
Placem ent W arning Lam p
W ith the electronic key in steering
lock position 2, the fuel reserve
w arning lamp com es on. It should
go out im m ediately when the
engine is running.
If the warning lam p does not go out
after starting the engine, or if it
com es on w hile driving, it indicates
that the fuel level is down to the
reserve quantity of approxim ately
2.1 gal (8 liters).
The warning lamp blinks when the
fuel cap is not closed, or the fuel
system has a leak. Retighten cap
and see if lamp goes out.
If the warning lamp continues to
blink after closing the fuel cap
correctly, have the fuel system
checked at your authorized
M ercedes-Benz dealer as soon
as possible.
T ach o m eter
Red m arking on tachom eter:
Excessive engine speed.
Avoid this engine speed, as it may
result in serious engine dam age
that is not covered by the
M ercedes-Benz Lim ited W arranty.
For engine protection, the fuel
supply is interrupted if the engine is
operated w ithin the red marking.
Seat Belt W arning Lam p
W ith the electronic key in steering
lock position 2, the warning lamp
com es on, and a w arning sounds
for a short tim e if the drivers seat
belt is not fastened.
After starting the engine, the
warning lam p blinks for a brief
period to rem ind the driver and
passengers to fasten seat belts.
