Introduction
This O w ner's M anual contains a great deal of useful
inform ation. W e urge you to read it carefully and
fam iliarize yourself with the vehicle before driving.
For your own safety and longer service life of the
vehicle, we urge you to follow the instructions and
w arnings contained in this m anual. Ignoring them
could result in dam age to the vehicle or personal
injury to you or others. V ehicle dam age caused by
failure to follow instructions is not covered by the
M ercedes-Benz Limited W arranty.
Your vehicle may have som e or all of the equipm ent
described in this m anual. Therefore, you may find
explanations for optional equipm ent not installed in
your vehicle. If you have any questions about the
operation of any equipm ent, your authorized
M ercedes-Benz dealer will be glad to dem onstrate
the proper procedures.

The O w n er's Service and W arranty Inform ation
booklet contains detailed inform ation about the
w arranties covering your M ercedes-Benz, including:
• New C ar Limited W arranty,
• Em ission System W arranty,
• Emission Perform ance W arranty,
• C alifornia Em ission C ontrol System W arranty
(C alifornia only),
• State W arranty Enforcem ent Laws
(Lemon Laws).

Im portant Notice for C alifornia Retail Buyers of
M ercedes-B enz A utom obiles
U nder C alifornia law you m ay be entitled to a
replacem ent of your vehicle or a refund of the
purchase price, if M ercedes-Benz of North Am erica,
Inc. or its authorized dealer fails to conform the
vehicle to its express w arranties after a reasonable
num ber of repair attem pts during the period of one
year or 12 000 m iles from original delivery of the
vehicle. A reasonable num ber of repair attem pts is
presum ed for a retail buyer (1) if the vehicle is out of
service by reason of repair of substantial non­
conform ities for a cum ulative total of m ore than
30 calendar days or (2) the sam e substantial non­
conform ity has been subject to repair four or more
tim es and you have at least once d irectly notified
us in w riting of the need to repair the non-con­
form ity and have given us an o p portunity to per­
form the repair ourselves. N otifications should
be sent to the nearest M erced es-B en z Regional
Office listed in the O w n er's S ervice and W arranty
Inform ation Booklet.
M aintenance
The Service Booklet describes all the necessary
m aintenance w ork which should be perform ed at
regular intervals.
Always have the Service Booklet with you when you
take the vehicle to your authorized M ercedes-Benz
dealer for service. The service advisor will record
each service in the booklet fo r you.
