Adjusting H eadlam p (Xenon)
C orrect headlam p adjustm ent is
extrem ely im portant. To check and
readjust a headlam p, follow steps 1
through 5. Please note:
Low beam adjustm ents
sim ultaneously aim the high
beam.
Vehicle should have a normal
trunk load.
Vertical aim adjustm ents
change horizontal aim.

1. Park vehicle on level surface
approxim ately 25 feet (7.6 m)
from a vertical test screen or
wall. The centerline of the
vehicle m ust be at a 90° angle
to the test screen.
2. (low beam s on)
Using a "T" square and a
carpenter's level, align and mark
a vertical centerline (8) on the
test screen using the vertex of
the angle form ed in each beam
image. As a check, the distance
between centerlines should be
4 7 1/4 inches (1198 mm).
3. Mark a horizontal centerline (9)
1/2
at a height of 2 2
inches
(570 mm) on the test screen. It
m ust be at a 90° angle to the
vertical centerline.
4. Open hood.
5. Vertical headlam p aim
(low beam s on):
Turn adjusting screw s (1 and 2)
equally in direction and turns
(counterclockw ise to adjust
headlam p dow nw ard, clockw ise
upward) until the headlam ps
(low beam) illum inate the test
screen as shown.
The left and right headlam ps
m ust be adjusted individually.
Note:
If it is not possible to obtain a
proper headlam p adjustm ent, have
the system checked at your autho­
rized M ercedes-B enz dealer.
