u p p e r b e lt is lo ca te d as clo se as
p o ssib le to th e m id dle o f th e
s h o u ld e r (it sh o u ld n o t to u c h the
ne ck). For th is p u rp o s e , push b u t­
to n (4) and raise o r lo w e r b e lt o u t­
let (3 p o s itio n s ).
The b e lt m u st be pu lle d snu g and
ch e c k e d fo r s n u g n e s s im m e d ia ­
te ly a fte r e n ga gin g it and d u rin g
driving. If necessary, tig h te n the
lap p o rtio n to a snu g fit by pulling
s h o u ld e r p o rtio n up.
U n fa stening :
Push in th e red b u tto n (3) in the
b e lt buckle.
The re tra c to r sho uld co m p le te ly
rew ind the b e lt and latch plate (1).
O p e ra tio n :
The in ertia reel s to p s th e b e lt fro m
u n w in d in g d u rin g su d d e n veh icle
s to p s o r w h en q u ic k ly p u llin g on the
belt.
The e m e rg e n c y te n s io n in g re tra c to r
tig h te n s th e sea t b e lt up on severe
fro n ta l im p a c ts w ith in th e sha de d area
sho w n on page 38.
The lo c k in g fu n c tio n o f th e reel m ay
be c h e c k e d by q u ic k ly p u llin g o u t the
belt.
Lap b e lt fo r m id dle o f rear seat:
Pull b e lt w ith latch plate o v e r lap so
th a t th e b e lt is p o s itio n e d as lo w on
y o u r hips as p o ss ib le . Push latch
plate in to b u c k le u n til it c lic k s . Do n o t
tw is t th e b e lt b u t kee p it tig h t. F or saf­
ety reasons, avoid a d ju s tin g th e seat
in to p o s itio n s w h ich c o u ld a ffe c t the
c o rre c t sea t b e lt p o s itio n .
To s h o rte n th e b e lt: W ith th e latch
plate e n ga ge d, pull th e lo o se end of
the belt.
To le n g th e n the b e lt: W ith th e b e lt
un fa ste n e d , tu rn th e la tch plate so
th a t it is a little m o re than 90° to the
belt, th e n e x te n d th e belt. Fasten the
b e lt and s h o rte n as s ta te d above.
To d ise n g a g e th e belt, p u sh red b u t­
to n in th e b u ckle .
If th e fo ld in g se a ts are n o t being
used, en ga ge b e lt w e b b in g in to
b ra c k e ts (5).
