re d u cin g th e s y s te m 's efficie n cy.

Fuel R equirem ents

Use o n ly P rem ium unleaded m e e tin g
ASTM sta n d a rd D 439:
The o c ta n e n u m b e r (p o s te d at the
pu m p) m u s t be 91 m in. It is an aver­
age o f b o th , th e R esearch (R) o c ta n e
n u m b e r and th e M o to r (M) o c ta n e
n u m b e r: [(R + M ) /2 ]. This is also
kn o w n as A N T I-K N O C K INDEX.
U nleaded ga soline c o n ta in in g o x y ­
g e n a te s su c h as E thanol, MTBE, IPA,
IBA and T B A can be used p ro vid e d
th e ratio o f e ith e r on e o f th e s e o x y ­
ge n a te s to g a soline d o e s n o t exce ed
10 o/o.
The ra tio o f M e th a n o l to gasoline
m u s t n o t e xce e d 3 % p lus ad ditiona l
co s o lv e n ts .
U sing m ix tu re s o f E thanol and M e th a ­
nol is n o t allow ed. MTBE may, h o w ­
ever, be ad de d up to 15 % . G asohol,
w h ich c o n ta in s 10 o/o Ethanol and
90 o/o unleaded gasoline , can be used.

fue l re q u ire m e n ts such as re sista n ce
to s p a rk k n o c k, b o ilin g range, va p o r
p re ssu re , etc..
