A way of validating a key each time before it is used to verify that it has not expired or been
revoked.

Out-of-band Authentication
When authentication is performed using relatively insecure methods, such as over the
telephone, it is called out-of-band authentication. In-band authentication, which uses PKI, is
preferred.

PCI
Peripheral Component Interconnect, a local bus that supports high-speed connection with
peripherals. It plugs into a PCI slot on the motherboard.

Public Key Cryptography Standards. These standards allow compatibility among different
