Changing Wheels
1. Set parking brake.
2. With manual transmission, shift
gear shift lever to
st or reverse

gear, with automatic transmission,
move selector lever to position " P" .
3. Prevent vehicle from rolling away
by blocking wheels with wheel
chocks (not supplied with vehicle):
When changing a wheel on a hill,
place chocks on the downhill side
of each wheel of the other axle; on
a level road, place one chock in
front of and one behind the wheel
that is diagonally opposite to the
wheel being changed.

4. Using the combination wrench,
loosen but do not yet remove the
wheel bolts.
5. Sedan: Remove protective cap
from the jack support tube.
Coupe: Remove cap from the jack
support tube.
The tube openings are located di­
rectly behind the front wheel hous­
ings and in front of the rear wheel
housings.
. Insert jack arm fully into the tube

hole up to the stop.
7. Position the jack so that it will
always be vertical (plumb-line) as
seen from the side (see arrow),
even on inclines. Jack up the
vehicle until the wheel is clear off
the ground.
W arning!
The jack is designed exclusively
for jacking up the vehicle at the
jack tubes built into either side
of the vehicle. Use the jack only
to lift the vehicle during a wheel
change. Never get beneath the
vehicle while it is supported only
by the jack. Keep hands and feet
away from the area under the
lifted tire. Jack stands must be
used when working under the
vehicle. Always set parking
brake before raising vehicle
with jack.
. Then unscrew wheel bolts com­

pletely. Keep bolt threads protect­
ed from dirt and sand. While re­
moving last bolt, hold wheel
against hub to avoid paint damage
on rim.
9. Remove wheel.
10. Screw the alignment bolt (supplied
in tool kit) into an upper threaded
hole.
11. Adjust the jack height so that the
wheel can be slipped on without
being lifted.
12. Install spare wheel on wheel hub.
Insert wheel bolts and tighten
them slightly. To avoid paint dam­
age, place wheel flat against hub
and hold it there while installing
first wheel bolt. Unscrew the align­
ment stud to install the last wheel
bolt.
