Fresh Food Thermistors
The fresh food section has two thermistors (FF1
and FF2). Both thermistors are located behind the
left drawer. Two Philips screws hold the cover that
secures the thermistors.
Diagnosing
The FF1 and FF2 thermistor resistances can be
checked on the J1 connector at the main board.
FF1 = J1 pin 1 (purple) to pin 5 (brown)
FF2 = J1 pin 2 (blue) to pin 5 (brown)
Freezer Thermistor
The freezer thermistor is located on the right wall of
the freezer compartment. To remove the thermistor
of the cover and gently lift the bottom edge until it
releases from the compartment wall.
Diagnosing
The freezer thermistor resistance can be checked on
the J1 connector of the main board.
J1 pin 3 (red) to pin 5 (brown)
Evaporator Thermistor
The evaporator thermistor is clipped to the suction
line of the evaporator on the left side. The main
board uses this thermistor to monitor and terminate
defrost cycles.
Diagnosing
The freezer evaporator thermistor can be checked
on the J1 connector of the main board.
J1 pin 4 (black) to pin 5 (brown)
Replacing Thermistors
To replace a faulty thermistor the existing thermistor
will need to be cut from the harness and the new
thermistor will be spliced in its place.
NOTE: It is important to follow proper procedure
for splicing wires. New connections should use bell
#: WR97X163 or equivalent).
