Changing W heels

1. Set p a rkin g brake.
2. W ith m anual tra n sm issio n , s h ift
gear s h ift lever to 1st o r reverse
gears respectively, w ith a u to m a ­
tic transm issio n, m ove se le ctor
lever to p o s itio n " P" .
3. Prevent ve h icle fro m ro llin g away
by b lo c k in g w heels w ith wheel
chocks: W hen ch a n g in g a wheel
on a hill, place ch o ck s behind
each wheel o f the axle o p p osite
to the axle to be w o rke d on; on a
level road, place one c h o c k in
fro n t and one behind o f the
w heel th a t is d ia g o n a lly o pp o site
to the wheel being changed.
4. U sing the co m b in a tio n w rench,
loosen b u t do not yet rem ove the
w heel bolts.
5. R em ove p ro te ctive cap fro m the
ja ck s u p p o rt tube. (The tube
op e n in g s are located d ire c tly be­
hind the fro n t w heel ho u sings
and in fro n t o f the rear w heel
housings.)
6. Insert ja c k arm fu lly in to the tube
hole up to the stop. P osition the
ja ck so th a t it w ill always be ver­
tica l as seen from th e side, even
on in clin es. Jack up the vehicle
u n til the w heel is cle a r o ff the
g ro u n d .
7. Then un screw w heel b o lts co m ­
pletely. Keep b o lt thread s p ro ­
tected fro m d irt and sand. W hile
re m oving last bolt, hold wheel
a g a in s t axle to avoid pa in t dam ­
age on rim.
8. Remove w heel.
9. S crew the a lig n m e n t stud, w hich
com es w ith the spare tire, in to
the up p e r thread ed hole o f the
hub p rio r to in s ta llin g wheel.
10. A d ju s t th e ja ck to a llo w the
w heel to be s lip p ed on w ith o u t
being lifted.
11. Install spare w heel (valve in b o t­
tom p o s itio n ) on wheel hub. In­
sert w heel b o lts and tig h te n
the m slig h tly . To avoid pain t
dam age, place w heel fla t
a g a inst hub and hold it there
w h ile in s ta llin g firs t wheel bolt.
U nscrew th e a lig n m e n t stud to
in sta ll the last w heel bolt.
12. Lo w e r car, rem ove ja c k and
place cap in to the ja c k su p p o rt
tube. T ig h te n the five bo lts
evenly, always s k ip p in g one,
u n til all b o lts are tig h t. Observe
a tig h te n in g to rq u e o f 110 Nm/
80 Ib-ft,
13. C o rre c t tire pressure.
