6.5 Customizing Printer

You can customize your TM printer by changing memory switches and the command default
value and saving the data onto the NV (nonvolatile) memory. Refer to the next section.

6.5.1 Printer Initial Setting Up

Printer initial setting up can be made by memory switches and character code page. Refer to
page 44 for details of memory switches.

6.5.2 Changing Command Default Values

You can customize your TM by changing the command default value and save the data onto the
nonvolatile memory.

6.5.3 Using the NV Memory

There is free area in NV memory for user can use. You can use this free area as memo, write
other character information or multipurpose. The data is saved even if you turn off the power.
Refer to the "ESC/POS Command Reference" on how to read and write.

6.6 Printer Status

There are three ways to get the printer status, and each method has the following features. Refer
to the ESC/POS Application Guide for details.
Automatic status (ASB):
When processed as a normal command, the printer automatically transmits a status
message whenever the status changes. It is always necessary to check the ASB status.
Real time status:
When the printer receives this command, it responds with the specified printer status.
Reporting the printer status takes priority over any normal print data.
Status:
The printer transmits a specified printer status in the same way that it processes normal
print data.
