Installation and Wiring
P
DANGER
Cut off all phases of the power source externally before starting
the installation or wiring work, thus avoiding electric shock or
damages to the product.
E
CAUTION
b Use the product in the environment within the general specifi-
cations described in the Hardware Manual. Never use the pro-
duct in areas with dust, oily smoke, conductive dusts, corro-
sive or flammable gas, vibrations or impacts, or expose it to
high temperature, condensation, or wind and rain.
b When drilling screw holes or wiring, cutting chips or wire chips
should not enter ventilation slits. Such an accident may cause
fire, failure or malfunction. When a dust proof sheet is supp-
lied, keep the sheet applied to the ventilation slits during instal-
lation and wiring. Be sure to remove the dust proof sheet from
the PLC's ventilation slits when the installation work is com-
pleted to prevent overheating of the PLC.
Installation location
An input or output extension block of the MELSEC FX
2NC
used only when mounted to a base unit of the FX
or FX
2NC
PLCs.
For the installation location and the installation method please refer to the
corresponding Hardware Manual.
Wiring
P
DANGER
b Caused by a damaged output module an output may not be set
correctly. Design external circuits and mechanisms to ensure
safe operations of the machine in such a case.
b An external power supply failure or a malfunction of the PLC
may result in undefined conditions. Provide a safety circuit on
the outside of the PLC (i. e. emergency stop circuit, a protec-
tion circuit, interlock circuit etc.) to ensure safety.
Cautions for preventing influences caused by main supply circuits and
other noise sources:
b
Do not lay signal cables close to the main circuit, high-voltage power
lines, or load lines. Otherwise effects of noise or surge induction are
likely to take place. Keep a safe distance of more than 100 mm from
the above when wiring.
b
The maximum cable length for in- and output connection is 100 m. To
safely prevent noise you should limit the cable length to 20 m. Take
the voltage drop on the line into consideration.
b
Fix the electric wires so that the connectors and connected parts of
electric wires are not directly stressed.
Connection of input and output signals
Connector type extension blocks
For the connection of input and output signals connectors conforming to
MIL-C-83503 are used.
Input/output cables with attached connectors are available from
Mitsubishi. For the pin arrangement of the I/O connectors please refer to
the terminal layouts.

E
CAUTION
b Observe the following items for wiring.
Ignorance of the this items may cause electric shock, short cir-
cuit, disconnection, or damage of the product:
The disposal size of the cable end should follow the dimen-
sions described in this manual.
Twist the end of stranded wires and make sure there are no
loose wires.
Do not solder-plate the electric wire ends.
Connect only the electric wires of regulation size.
Tightening of terminal block screws should follow the
torque described below.
Applicable wires and terminal torque
2
2
Use only wires with a diameter of 0.3 mm
to 0.5 mm
. If two wires are con-
nected to one terminal, use wires with a diameter of 0,3 mm
The tightening torque must be 0.22 to 0.25 Nm.
Termination of wire end
Strip the coating of strand wire and twist the cable
core before connecting it, or strip the coating of
single wire before connecting it.
9 mm
When using a stick terminal with insulating sleeve, choose a wire with
proper cable sheath referring to the above outside dimensions, or other-
wise, the wire cannot be inserted easily.

Output wiring
The outputs of the FX
output extension blocks are grouped. In the
2NC
FX
-16EYR-DS the 16 outputs form two groups, with eight outputs in
2NC
each group. In the FX
-16EYT-DSS and the FX
2NC
outputs are pooled into groups of 16 outputs.
Each group has two common terminals for the load voltage. These termi-
nals are marked "COM„" for relais outputs and "+V " for source transistor
outputs. " " stands for the number of the output group e. g. "COM1".
