POWER FEED 84, POWER FEED 84 DUAL
PROBLEMS
(SYMPTOMS)
Fault Code
Err 18 Configuration error
Err 81 Motor overload, long term.
Err 82 Motor overload, short term.
The feeder does not power up - no voltage,
no cold feed.
The green LED on the wire drive or user
interface is flashing quickly.
The feeder is stuck in procedure B.
If for any reason you do not understand the test procedures or are unable to perform the tests/repairs safely, contact your
Local Lincoln Authorized Field Service Facility for technical troubleshooting assistance before you proceed.

ArcLink System Error Codes
1. The DIP switch setting for the user inter-
face does not match the wire drives. The
UI is set for "single" with a "dual" wire
drive, or the UI is set for "dual" with a
"single" wire drive.
1. The wire drive motor has overheated.
1. The wire drive motor current draw has
exceeded limits, usually because the
motor is in a locked rotor state.
1. The work sense lead is disconnected or
is a poor electrical connection. (Across
the arc models)
2. The power source is OFF.
3. The circuit breaker for the wire feeder on
power source have tripped. (control
cable models)
4. The control cable may be loose or dam-
aged. (control cable models)
1. Loss of ArcLink communication between
the wire feeder and the power source.
2. Loss of ArcLink communication between
the wire drive and control box of boom
systems
3. Multiple feeders are connected to the
power source.
1. A dual procedure gun is being used with
the dual procedure switch closed.

Possible Adjustments
1. Verify the user interface DIP is in the cor-
rect position.
1. Check that the electrode slides easily
through the gun and cable.
2. Remove tight bends from the gun and
cable.
3. Check that the spindle brake is not too
tight.
4. Verify a high quality electrode is being
used.
5. Wait for the error to reset and the motor
to cool (approximately 1 minute).
1. Check that motor can turn freely when
idle arm is open.
2. Verify that the gears are free of debris
and dirt.
1. Connect the work sense lead to the work
in a location free of dirt, rust and paint.
2. Turn ON the power source.
3. Reset the circuit breakers.
4. Tighten, repair or replace the control
cable.
1. Check cables for good connections.
2. Check cables for good connections.
3. Upgrade the software in the power
source.
1. Change the position of the dual proce-
dure switch.
